We saw our friend Magda this morning who has just got back from the jungle.
She said it was even more of an adventure than normal, though not in a particularly attractive way.
The road is peppered with huge holes and landslides and the Madre de Dios river is so high it has swallowed loads of boats and huge trees are being dragged into it.
She suggested that I go with them the next time they go on an off the beaten track expedition.
Off the beaten track has a bit of a different meaning here given that a few metres off a known walkway and no-one will ever see you again.
Apparently we would go with some locals so at least someone would know where we were going before we get eaten by Jaguars.
We won't go for a while though, it wouldn't be much fun in this weather and the journey from Cusco through landslides would take forever.
