The dust and mud from the hotel that is being built just down the road from the cafe in Cusco has been getting us all down lately, despite our attempts to get the council to do something about it. Although Lima is normally smoggy and dirty there's not the same level of filth as there is in San Agustin at the moment. Normally. We arrived in Santa Anita to find that the road is being widened and a shopping centre is being constructed opposite the house. Everything is covered in filth and dust. Lovely. Salvador made the most of the paddling pool this morning, given that the heat was unbearable at 7am, we had to do something to cool him down a bit. Uncle Fermin had a go at cooling everyone down this morning as he pressure washed the kitchen roof and managed to simultaneously prove that it is not rain proof, not a pretty sight. This afternoon we met Ali's daughter Chaska and went to TGI Fridays for lunch (No vegetarian options, so we had the Caesar Salad without the Caesar). Afterwards we went to the pictures to see 'Nanny McPhee' (again) dubbed in Spanish, this was largely a tactic to try to cure Esther of the raging headache she has had since we got here. Jeanne looked after Salvador for us and when we got back looked particularly knackered from trying to keep up with him. We've just seen Chaska to her bus stop and I walked Jeanne to her combi on the opposite corner. Chaska is training to be a nurse, so I'm currently trying to put some of the horrific stories she told us over lunch out of my head. If you're lucky I will share a couple with you tomorrow.
