It started raining at 4pm yesterday and stopped at 1pm today. Very wet, very persistent and very long rain. Esther woke up with a cold so we had already decided not to go to Huacarpay but Gary rang at 11.30am to say that the trip was off anyway. I said it was a good job because I certainly wasn't interested in pushing a Land Rover back from Lucre in this weather. With Esther in bed all day I have been doing my best to keep Salvador occupied, Esther's more professional efforts at pre-school stimulation extend to painting, exploring textures and making strange flour based pastes for him to play with, mine resulted in this. I certainly found it very stimulating myself and he laughed (I don't think the swearing registered). This one is just as good but more for aficionados of good music.Amazingly even though I couldn't see a single mountain all day, the planes were still coming in to the airport, maybe air traffic control have bought a special pair of storm penetrating binoculars. It has to be amongst the worst weather I have seen flights still operating in, rather them then me.
I took Salvador out for some fresh air this afternoon, it's amazing what a difference a pram makes. When I go out on my own I get asked if I want a photo next to someone's scabby Llama or whether I would like to buy a dolly in national dress. With a pram, I got stopped this afternoon and asked by two Peruvians where the Twelve Angled Stone was, I look so local with my rugged Latin Looks and bright red Buggy from Devon.
