I've just seen on the telly that the troubled cruise liner 'Queen Mary II' has docked in Lima. Angry passengers on the first leg of its South American odyssey threatened to stage a sit in at Rio de Janeiro, I can't imagine them doing the same in Lima. What is does mean though is that they are sure to be visiting Cusco on one of the most daft trips imaginable. Cruise liners stop in Lima, the passengers then fly to Cusco, then they take the train or helicopter to Machu Picchu, then they go back to the boat, all of the time ignoring the fact that Cusco is at 11000ft. These people invariably look terrible during their time here and it must all pass by in a complete blur. Having suffered from altitude sickness (which can kill - they ignore that too), I wouldn't fancy sea sickness on top.
