Another hair raising half hour taxi trip took us into Miraflores this morning. This character drove on his brakes and crossed junctions regardless of oncoming traffic.
We managed to complete our shopping there and had time for a coffee and a visit to a new ‘Waitrose’ like supermarket (no tweed jackets or green wellies here though) before coming back to Santa Anita.
The construction work picked up speed yesterday and there was a pleasant chorus of pneumatic drills thought the night.
The reason for the change in tempo was the removal of the electric company on the corner of the crossroads.
Since before we got here there has been a dispute between them and the council and they decided to create a blockade with lorries, vans and cars parked all over the road widening work that is going on.
Yesterday morning though, we heard a couple of loud bangs that sounded remarkably like teargas canisters being fired and by the afternoon all resistance had disappeared.
Salvador has just emerged from an uneventful splash around in the paddling pool (largely because we kept his nappy on) and I think we are going to have a rest before going to the supermarket. The heat is particularly evil today. In Miraflores, nearer the coast, it clouded over earlier and became more bearable but here it is like an oven again.
