We were off early in a cab to the doctors where sinusitis was diagnosed and a very interesting concotion prescribed. For my cough, a syrup made from English Ivy, last seen overflowing from my Mum & Dad's rockery in Swindon. I would love at this point to say that it was a shaman not a doctor that I saw and he blew coca smoke in my face, danced around a bit and then prescribed ivy, but the bottle says it was made in Germany so I don't think it's particularly exotic. Apart from fizzy Panadol, the other cure prescribed is regular vapour sessions with a bowl of camomile tea. After going to the chemists, we came back here, put Salvador to bed and watched 'Raining Stones' a miserable, dark and very enjoyable Ken Loach film starring Bruce Jones (Les Battersby from Coronation Street). Nice to hear some genuine English swearing (Ricky Tomlinson was also in it). Tonight Esther has a real treat, first a Jane Austen documentary and then the BBC version of 'Pride & Prejudice', I will be by her side immersed in a bucket of leaves with a tea towel on my head ready to slurp my back garden creeper juice.
