I am leaving for the jungle at 7am in the morning.
This afternoon I went to a long and detailed meeting with the rest of the group and Dante (Magda's husband), our guide.
Tomorrow will be mainly spent travelling down into the rainforest with a stop in the cloud forest on the way.
On Sunday we start chugging our way down the Rio Madre de Dios, a nine hour journey.
Early Monday morning we go to the Macaw lick at Blanquillo, a highlight of our trip in 2003.
We spend that night on a platform overlooking a mammal lick where we hope to see Tapir.
On Tuesday we are on the move again, into the reserved zone of Manu where we stay with a native community, next to a large lake frequented by Giant Otters.
On Wednesday we spend more time around the lake and exploring local trails.
On Thursday the highlight has to be an afternoon game of football against the locals.
Friday sees us head back up the river to Boca Manu from where we fly back to Cusco and a reunion with Esther and Salvador.
The group consists of three Spaniards, a Peruvian, two North Americans and one Swindonian (me).
We went our for something to eat tonight and had a run around the entance to the Cathedral with Salvador.
When we got back to the cafe there were some familiar faces waiting, the three Spaniards were tucking into a meal together, if their taste is that good we should all have a good time.
Whilst I am away Esther will continue posting photo's to the blog, unfortunately there are no call-boxes in Manu so any stories will have to wait until I come back.
