Salvador gets medieval with Pocoyo

I got to the café this morning for our 7am meeting to discover that we had no electricity.
It seems that during the night the supply went off in San Agustin and when we contacted the electric company they had no idea when we were likely to get it back.
The road had to be dug up first and then they had to find out what the problem was.
It seems that anybody with a modern electrical system is OK, we have the original 1950’s wiring.
Our meeting took place in semi-darkness in the café and the new rules and regulations were explained.
We will see how it all goes.
The electric company arrived on the corner of San Agustin and Cabracancha at 9am.
They spent two hours digging a hole.
They then disappeared for an hour.
They came back, looked at the hole then went to lunch.
At 4pm, our hourly call to the electric company brought the news that the supply would be restored at 4.30pm.

4.30pm came and went.
As did 5.30pm.
And 6.30pm.
The hole remained in the same state as it was at 11am this morning.
We have been coping with a combination of an extension lead plugged into our landlady’s supply (she is in Lima – so no problem there) and strategically placed candles.
The darker it got, the more likely it seemed that we would have to close for the evening.
Esther rang again and was told they were working ‘in the zone’, it all sounded very dramatic considering that the hole was still unaccompanied.
I decided to go on a search for the ‘zone’ and found them beavering away on the creation of another hole 300 yards from the café towards our friends in the Bad Indian Restaurant.
Ten minutes later all of the electric in Moni came back on and so ended our latest problem.
Salvador meanwhile was delighted this morning with the arrival of a ‘Pocoyo’ toy from Grandma & Grandad, he has refused to let go of it all day and even tried to get in the bath with it.
He is also delighted with his mention on the blog of his friend Matthew from whom he is hoping to pick up tips on how to become a model toddler.
