The doctor was out again on Saturday night this time after we discovered that one of Salvador's testicles was swollen.
The slightly dishevelled medic this time diagnosed a hernia.
The same hernia as I had operated on in Cusco.
He said the the hernia needed an operation on our return to Lima, took his money and slouched off into the night.
Shell shocked by this news we started trying to figure out what to do once we got back to the capital.
Our journey back from Trujillo was equally comfortable as on the way, with the added bonus of the 'Lilo and Stitch' movie which Salvador roared with laughter all the way through.
Today we have made numerous visits to the Children's Hospital for tests, diagnosis and advance payment.
The doctor we saw was very good and confirmed the need for surgery.
Salvador's operation will be simpler than mine and should involve him being seen as a day patient.
He withstood the taking of blood without a whimper and even burst into song for the first time ever in the hospital corridor, his superbly tuneless version of 'Silent Night' helped raise the mood on an otherwise miserable and worrying day.
We have to go back to the hospital yet again shortly to take some wee to be analysed.
Tomorrow we should know when his operation will take place.
I will be postponing my return to Cusco for a week depending on the date he has it done.
Esther & Salvador will not now go back to Cusco until October to give him a good period of recuperation here.
Other than all that, one of my fillings fell out on the bus and I think I might have a hernia the other side but will be sorting that out in Cusco.
