The wife of President Garcia and first lady of Peru is promoting a scheme to help the impoverished in the high Andes.
The project is called ´Sowing´ and I dutifully donated my two soles in Lima last week and got a packet of seeds.
Today President Garcia announced that some of his own sowing last year produced a son outside of his marriage, the result of some seeds that didn´t make it to the family allotment.
In most countries this would be a national scandal but here everyone just shrugs.
It´s largely due to the fact that Toledo, the previous president did just the same thing but continually denied he was the father of the love child.
The attitude of most people in Peru is that at least Garcia has come clean - if you´ll excuse the expression.
