I went to Wembley on Friday to see England v Brazil. Beckham was great which must have pleased the bloke sat in front of me wearing an La Galaxy shirt. National Express and their direct to the stadium service from Swindon bus station were great.
It was also lovely to see that although the old ground has gone, the decaying surroundings of Brent and Wembley are imperfectly intact.
All the Leather furniture shops from the 70's are still there as are the dodgy accountants and import/export experts.
I am sure the bridge with the Ferodo brakes sign on it hasn't changed since 1973 and I fondly remembered some drunken staggers through the same industrial estate during Euro 96.
It's lovely how a state of the art stadium can be rocketed in from outer space with no impact whatsoever on the surrounding area.
