The socks we bought Salvador in this shop were good, but with a name like that they were sure to be!A strange day today, the unhealthy combination of absent friends, a painful hip and preocupation over survival between now and the high season has seen us both distracted and listless. Once Salvador has had his lunch we are going to go out and break the cycle. We need to make the deposit for our trip to Tumbes, although given the extremely inconclusive phone call Esther had with the hotel last night I am beginning to have my doubts about the whole thing. We are going to go to El Polo Shopping Centre, opposite the 'bunker' (the US Embassy) where Peru's last terrorist bomb went off a couple of years ago. The proliferation of Starbucks in Lima means that all the nice shops now have one next door, we went in one yesterday and they took three attempts and still got our order wrong, I gave up and had an espresso in the end. It was great to speak to Mum & Dad this morning and really kind of Colin to collect them, I am sure it was nice for them to see a familiar helpful face after such a rotten journey, I am spending long periods wishing we had gone back too, but I suppose that is inevitable and will wear off. Hopefully we can get rid of some of our negative thinking at the weekend. On Saturday we have to collect my framed hare print that Esther got for my birthday and on Sunday we are going birding at Pantanos de Villa in the morning with Bencie and then we fly to Tumbes at 4pm.
