Another morning wasted fighting with the worst company in the world ‘Telefonica’ after they cut our internet connection for reasons too pathetic to explain.
Apparently our service will be restored tomorrow but not without both of us losing our temper with the arrogant, ignorant idiot who dealt with us.
Apparently this person had no name and no line manager, facts I will be making Telefonica in Spain aware of, although they won’t reply because they are just as ignorant and arrogant.
With that start to the week our mood has not been good all day.
In the evening things improved with a meeting to discuss the days out at the lake I’d like to organise.
Alejjo came over with his godson (who looked considerably older – but it’s best not to ask), who is a taxi driver.
He seemed a pretty genuine type who is used to tourists and not fazed by the idea of me shouting an incomprehensible bird name and getting him to slam on the brakes.
He even said that the best bird to look out for down there was the Many Coloured Rush-Tyrant.
So on Wednesday he is collecting me at 5.30am for our first reconnaissance mission.
Unusually for someone from Cusco his first price for a half day out was not a rip off, so he has already scored some points with me, particularly after a day festering about how frustrating life is here.
So Lake Huacarpay beckons the day after tomorrow for me and Jesus the taxi driver.
With a name like that I can’t go wrong can I?
