After a good scan through today's 'Observer' and yesterdays 'Guardian' we went out to try to get Salvador's hair cut. Unfortunately everywhere was shut so we headed straight to the market to get the things I needed to make our dinner. Valerio came with us to give us a hand. The market is full of narrow passages and it was in one of these that I got quite an eyeful. As Esther and Valerio were lifting the buggy up some steps, one of the wheel nuts got caught in the outer skirt of an elderly campesino in national dress, several layers of grubby drawers were revealed and she let out quite a yelp. Salvador slept on, oblivious.
We then went to the contraband market in search of a clock for the kitchen. We eventually tracked a really classy timepiece down that lets out birdsong on the hour every hour. Unfortunately some of the bird song sounds like a smoke alarm so I ran out of the kitchen the first time I heard it. Tonight we are going to try to watch 'Brokeback Mountain' the selection of which gave Esther her first contextual chance to use the phrase she learnt the other day. All the reviews indicate it should be very good, unless I have been sold a bum steer.
