A while ago I was getting concerned about who might win the election in April, now I'm more concerned about what happens when the same people lose. Scandals and infighting seem to have made the nationalists unelectable which can only be good, however unlike previous defeated candidates they could have the power and influence to make things very awkward for whoever gets elected. I can see a few months of strikes and civil unrest on the way. I booked a two day break in the Sacred Valley for us today, we leave next Tuesday, hopefully Jesus will be able to take us. It will be nice to get out of Cusco for a little while to somewhere that is not Lima. We should also be able to have a good look at the night sky, which is amazing once you get out of the cities in the Andes.
