I had my hernia operation on Thursday afternoon, it all went as well as being slashed open and internally grappled with usually does.
There were no bin bags this time like Cusco in August and the staff tactics were very different.
As the surgeon was doing his cross-stitch of a fluffy kitten on my abdomen we chatted aimlessly about Peruvian medical care, how to change a car tyre, the petrol crisis and Fillipino food.
I came home the same afternoon and by 11pm was in absolute agony.
A call to the doctor confirmed that they had underdone the painkillers.
Some more paracetamol and Nurofen got me through the night and things are improving now although it is still very painful.
It was very different from Peru where I was high as a kite for three days from whatever I breathed in.
Moni has made its way into the new edition of Lonely Planet and we continue to get rave reviews from customers blogs.
I have been signed off work for a month and at the moment I feel like I am going to need all of that.
